Stand up paddlesurf lesson- Cruising the Bay

Had a great day of paddlesurfing today!

Started off with an early morning surf session on the Northside of the pier with Kiwi, Spork and Kraig Surplus. Kiwi got the wedge of the day- wish I had my camera ready for that one- just perfectly slotted on his 10' Stu K. I had a front row seat- nice job Kiwi! Go check out some photos of that session on www.paddlesurf.net

Taught a stand up paddle surf lesson on the bay with my latest student Kristine M.. Paddle surfing is fun for so many reasons- I really like the social aspect of the sport. You can do some flatwater miles and still be able to chat. We had a great time and I'm sure that we'll being seeing Kristine back in the water. Honestly, she was kind of a natural- she didn't fall in once (!) and was able to pick up two turns right off the bat (cross body sweep and drag turn) all on the giant 12' Big Red. Right on Kristine!

I spent the rest of the day working on my upcoming book: "Paddle Surfing Guide to Southern California" (it should be complete by mid-June) and hanging out with my best buddy Lilly (my West Highland White Terrier). I did check the surf right before dark- it's been glassing off nicely in the evening- but I just wasn't feeling it. I also knew I'd be up early for the morning session again- if it's glassy, I'm going to ride the 8'0 Stamps.

All in all, just about a perfect day. San Diego rules!
