"I still see many paddlers with a PFD on their board, but no leash. I saw a guy paddle out at Hood River and never came back. If you don't wear a PFD, at least have a leash on, so you can't get seperated from your board. This is especially…"

"Common sense was lacking. These guys did everything they could to not survive a calm day on a lake. Lack of physical fitness, inability to swim, PFD secured to canoe-not worn. Inexperience with canoes. Not staying with the upside down boat. I…"

"Well, for starters, people out on the water should use common sense, and wear a PFD if appropriate. I see that Beau helped rescue one canoeist on Lake Padden on Friday - and the other guy drowned before Beau could get back to him. Beau, provide some…"

mild winter weather paddling gear question

I know this topic is always gets covered in anticipation of winter.  But it has been so mild out in the PNW.  What do people recommend as the minimum safe paddling gear in this mild weather.  Is it necessary to do the drysuit route, or is it warm enough now to go out in simple wetsuit gear?  I'm a relatively new paddler who is tired of sitting inside, wondering if my fall paddling clothes will suffice.  thanks!See More
