At 1:25pm on July 7, 2008, Reid said…: I'm living in New Mexico right and there are no waves here. Closest thing to waves it the whitewater on the Rio Grande. Couple of years ago a river rafter mentioned that a guy body boarded down the Rio Grand in the Taos area. To make a long story short this past spring, while in Hawaii, I was amazed at the amount of SUPs in the water. Most of the guys out there in the waves made it look so easy. I wanted to try, but decided to surf instead since I rationalized that I should just spend my limited time surfing. Okay so now I'm back in New Mexico with no waves in sight. There's a like within an 45 minute drive. The light bulb clicks, okay lets try to learn SUP while I'm stuck here in NM.
