Recently got a standard C-4 Vortice for distance, have had it on Lake Michigan and flatwater rivers in calm conditions and high wind. Really a fantastic board. Have had it in small surf as well and like the handling. Never tried the carbon model,…
I am an attorney and real estate broker. I am also a caregiver for a parent and I help take care of two great nieces and one great nephew.
I've been surfing since Dec. 1970. For me, SUP is way to stay stoked, get in shape, and add another element to surfing. Compared to an expensive yatch, it is a cheap way to get on the water. I love surfing and sailing and there is nothing more theraputic than being on the water or in it.
Hi Liz, thanks for joining the community so fast! If you're looking for a custom board check out the stuff from Stamps. I surf a 10' that he shaped last summer and I love it. I'd like to go down to a 9' this year. Here's a link to a 9' he's selling used on Paddlesurf.net
Today (May 20th, 2008) I bought my first SUP, a 10'4" Stu Kenson. It's handmade epoxy and is very light. I wanted something short enough to surf and carry in my truck with the bedliner. I took it out in the bay for a spin. It seems to be a good size.
Congrats on the new Stu K. SUP boards - he makes really nice boards- a few of the boys down here in IB ride them and most of us ride his regular boards as well. Stu definitely knows what's up- nice choice!
I paddled yesterday in the bay in Point Loma. I bought a plastic cell phone case that allows you to listen and talk without pulling the phone out. I am on call a lot and sure enough got a call at the end of my paddle. I'm going to San Onofre today in a few hours.
