Jeff,
When in Sacramento, Lake Natoma is a fantastic piece of water to SUP. Larry Froley and I paddle year round there, with regular workouts on Sunday around noon. Please come and join us. We are having a fun 5 mile race on August 16th. No fees, just for fun. Please join us for a noonish start.

Jeff,
Great to have you join us on the 16th. We paddle the wood paddleboards and teach the SUP classes for the Aquatics Ctr. We usually paddle from the Nimbus Flats end of the lake. We will be at Ta-hoe Nalu on the 15th, so it will be a busy weekend.

Jeff,
The state park by the Aquatics Ctr. is Nimbus Flats. We will start from the point. We really don't know what kind of numbers to expect and are really trying to seed the event for a more formal race next year. The idea is to make a fun double duty weekend for the SoCal and Santa Cruz paddlers coming up for the Tahoe race. We know it would be hard to draw them to Sacramento otherwise.

Jeff,
I haven't been on the river yet, though it is a goal. If you go in at Watt, you can probably make your way upstream along the south shore. Coming back, don't challenge the current if you go under Watt. Make sure you are off the north shore to set yourself up between the pillars. Too often, canoes try to move off the north bank too late and get wrapped around that pillar as a strainer.
