Wish me luck, guys! Its my 2nd paddleboard race and its whitewater!! At least all the drops are at the end of the 3.5 miles because I'm pretty sure I'm going to wipe out all 7 rapids in a row. I only made it over 1 of them successfully this afternoon and that was on my knees. If anyone has any tips for me, I'd love to hear them. I am wondering what would be a typical range of speeds for a SUP race? I'm thinking of participating in the Tacoma race this Saturday but I'm a newbie and I'm slow. I don't mind if I come in last but I don't want to be ridiculously slow compared to everyone else. I paddled the route today in about an hour and a half so that would be an average speed of about 2.6 mph.
