Stand Up Paddle Surfing

Stand Up Paddle Surfing Community Website

Hi,

I am still fairly new to the sport but it seems every week I discover a new aspect of the sport to love.

Before I started I knew it would be a great work out and I really like this part as it beats the gym by a world or 2.

Also it is obvious that riding waves is unreal just so much no matter how small it is,
I never thought I be bragging about catching a 1 foot wave :-)

Buit than it get;s interessting a few weeks ago we launched at the Coronado cays and started exploring the maze of little channels and villas they have there, kind of paddleboard hiking, not doing it for the waves of the workout just the sightseeing.

Than last Friday I want out and the waves thought of sucked so I decided to paddle down the beach at the shores, all of the sudden 2 dolphons in front of me showing off, next I look down and see 2 lepard sharks, than another 3 and another 5 and so on...
No waves but io was just looking down at the sea live what a treat.

So question is what else can we do or explore, please add your favorite experience or conditions, I for sure added 12 foot visibility into the water onto the list of what is great conditions.

Thanks

Marko

Hey Marko, I think that I the best place so far that I have seen is in lake tahoe. The water was so clear and clean you could see the huge rocks. There also was boats on the bottom of the floor that had to be there for years.

Launching at Main Beach in Laguna, paddling south with My 14 year old son... riding waves, looking at houses, watching Garibaldi, schools of baitfish... then paddling back to Main Beach into the Sunset... and my son telling me that it was the coolest thing that we have ever done together, (and we have done LOTS of cool stuff together.)... and saying that he wished his Mom (my wife) was there too. Needless to say, when I told her the story, she confirmed that she will be taking up SUP shortly.

Paddling with my dad is totally awesome. I never thought I'd enjoy getting up at 5 am on a saturday, but now I don't mind as long as I'm going paddling.
By far the best part of paddling has to be the versatility. One minute I can be riding a wave, the next I can be looking at fish, and soon after I can just cruise along the shore. There's just so many things you can do on a paddle board

Today i caught it all at once, I took of on this wave and just as I catch it I look down and I see 1 stingray and a lepard shark taking off right below me.

That just made my day :-)

The workout. Using the inflatable board in he harbor as the last step in recovery from breaking my femur. Have been able to balance much better now after 6 weeks of twice a week paddle sessions. Great environment to do a workout in on the water, looking at the homes and ships in the harbor.

I'm looking foward to getting better and a rigid board to get out on the ocean for open ocean paddling

It's all mind blowing, but at 38 and single I'd have to say it's the attention from the girls.

Where to start...began as therapy for health issues...balance problems believe it or not....amazing results...after 4 years of doctors doing nil. Fitness....I've lost 50 lbs and I'm in the best shape I've seen in 20 years. Surfing...OMG...all I can say is its a good thing I didn't find this 30 years ago...I'd have been a beach bum....hhmmm...maybe its a bad thing I didn't find it.

Going from barely being able to stand up to surfing in a violent nor'easter last may. 8-10' waves, heavy chop and high winds....I've never felt so alive.

Watching seals chase the bluefish that were chasing mackerel right into the glassy wave I was riding on a beautiful sunny summer day on Cape Cod. I could have grabbed the mackerel with my bare hands

Got my wife a board in June....romantic sunset cruises to secluded beach spots with a bottle of wine, some bread and cheese.....and a blanket....need we say more....:)

I don't exaggerate when I say it has changed my life. Passion isn't a good enough word.
