One of my good friends who is stoked on SUP as I, Jamie ( HHISUP) ipaddlesurf member broke his foot over this past weekend. He rolled his foot on the sand after powering down his kite after sailing. Fractured the outside of his foot and pulled some ligaments . He will be out for the first half of summer. He was one of four of us here who are hard core SUP nuts. We all eat, breathe and talk Stand Up. We all here wish him a speedy recovery and will welcome him back with a paddle in his hands and board under his feet. I cant wait for him to get back on the water..
The next of many sessions will be for you bro.. get well soon....gjbsup

That sucks!

We had a pretty good day (for San Diego) last Friday, I was flying my 12m kite (like I said, good day for SD) in south winds. South winds are really sketchy here and there were squalls coming through. A fellow kiter got lofted over a freeway overpass on a similar day.

Anyway, as I was kiting in the somewhat sketchy conditions all I could think about was not injuring myself.... because the summer stand up season was coming! So I feel your buddy's pain- hope he gets well soon.
John,
I saw a video of a kite boarder getting lifted several 100 ft by the thermals. Pretty scary .
Kite boarding is or can be very dangerous.. Jamie,my buddy is bummung hard too . On top of that he had to put one of his dogs to sleep, 14 yrs old.. Kind of a tough week for him.. Time heals all wounds... Trying to keep him stoked w/ mags and videos....Thanks John... I need to get out to SD Cali. again..
Hey Glen-

Let me know if you're out this way- I'll get you into some surf. And sorry to hear about your friend's dog- that's really tough.
Heard from Jamie, He had an operation where they put a plate on the bottom of his foot w/ 5 screws. OUCH !..... He'll be out of the water for a little bit.. He has a water cast and when the stiches and wound heals he can get the foot wet. I'll put him on the East Coast Paddleboard Big Mamma 32''X12' board for a flat water paddle. Looking forward to the paddle. Get well soon Jamie.. Mahalo
