Triathlon events have grown much since I did my first one in 1987.
The event has three venues; swimming, cycling and running.
There are different distances leading to the full Ironman distance which is double of our event.
I have witnessed some island triathletes become Ironman finishers even in Hawaii.
Here in Puerto Rico, the longest triathlon organized was this past December 13th 2009 called Contender half ironman(2500 meters swim, 50mile bike, 13mile run).
Last year,there was a first editi…

I never got much paddling in this summer, however last week I scored a nice wave day, which isn't easy in place where we don't get good surf. Waist high waves, light winds, warm temps, and the sun was shining. Spent 3 hours scoring waves with my friend, and we were the only 2 out. It was awesome. Hoping this Sunday is going to bring some more waves again, cause it's flat out there now.

I'm working with SurfMaps.com to develop a line of SUP SurfMaps to help us find better places to paddle all over the world. Would anyone be interested in a SUP Map? I want to see whether it's worth the investment or not. It would also be good to know if you would like to invest in the project, or become a partner of sorts. Let me know what you think and whether it's something we should pursue or not. Thanks!

The world’s oceans are fast becoming a toxic and dangerous trash can for marine life. But this September the largest assembly of divers and like minded volunteers will join in a global clean up aimed at helping preserve the marine environment.
“Even trash in Kentucky eventually washes out to the sea,” says Jenny Miller Garmendia, Director of Project AWARE Foundation (PAF), a nonprofit organization that conserves underwater environments through education, advocacy and action. “The challenge arou…

We had a great time paddling an informal race on Lake Natoma yesterday. The water was flat and fast and a great place to be with the temperatures soaring. We'd like to get more of the Sacramento SUP crowd together for group paddles and races. Please send us your name and email so we can put you on a contact list if you paddle in this region. This is an activity that I wish I could do...but 1st I have to learn how to paddle surf. :( Not even sure if it's possible? Can you surf in the dark? You need to be away from the city lights...around 2 am...is the best time to view it. I hope someone experienced does this and tell me all about it! (Tip: if you can find a lake by a mountain, that's ideal).

This is my first blog attempt...I've read through some of the others, and I must say, I'm way below on the learning ladder. Is anyone an instructor? Or have recommendations on where to start? I saw this: have the board, need the paddle. I'm not even at that step. Please emphathize, and give me a lead. Thanks.
